'ANIMAL RIGHTS' GRADE 7
OVERVIEW OF LESSON
Statement of Inquiry: Creative narratives on animal rights can change how we perceive them.
Students will discuss why animal rights matter and the purpose of fantasy when representing animals in our cultures to create new narratives that can change how we perceive animals. The focus on animal rights will be used to moderate discussions about moral principles grounded in the belief that non-human animals deserve the ability to live as they wish without being subjected to the desires of human beings.
TEACHING MATERIALS
Learning outcomes: Students will get familiarised with animal rights and learn basic skills of the technique of clay sculpture.
Age group: Middle school
Duration: 24 lessons, 45 minutes each
You will need: Clay, plaster, wood, nails, wire
Tools: Cutter, hammer, security gloves, spray bottle with water, plastic bags, masking tape
